Celebrate your Boho Wedding in Costa Rica

At Eventos Artesanos we know that people choose Costa Rica as a special and magical place in which they can vacation and hold unique and memorable events such as weddings.

Do you want to organize a Boho wedding? This kind of weddings are very trendy, they are usually held outdoors and are very fashionable so we invite you to take note of some tips so that you and your guests can share together the bohemian atmosphere incorporated into the essence "Pura Vida" of Costa Rica.

Some tips are:

a) Choose the location: in Guanacaste there are beautiful beaches that only with the incorporation of vintage elements and some bohemian decorative items will make everything look beautiful and create an incredible contrast. If you decide to perform the wedding at sunset, you will have an extra point of magic that will remind you of your special day all your life.

b) Wedding colors: we recommend choosing a color for the wedding. If, for example, you decide that all guests wear white, it would be great if all the decoration was in this color with some items in Rattan that perfectly match the white and make an incomparable harmony. Some examples of items you may include are tables such as the Hurricane Table, the Bali Rattan lounge table or accent chairs such as the Wicker Cobra Chair, the Peacock Chair or hammocks under the trees also made of chair among others. You can also choose packages that we call "Vibes" which already have default items that combine perfectly creating different
environments.

c) Reception: you should keep in mind that for the reception and ceremony the decoration may vary, the
vintage furniture can be the protagonists of beautiful corners in the ceremony or banquet area. If you decide to make dinner on the beach instead of a restaurant, you should consider using items that combine with the atmosphere, in this case we recommend the Guanacaste Tables: hand sculpted by our carpenters, with unique lines which will give an elegant touch to the reception. Other table options include the Teak Farm Table or Ebony Farm, a combination of black and white tables in case you want to consider other options. The
tendency to mix textures and colors with woods gives a spectacular result.

d) Lounge or chill out areas: this is especially important at a wedding when the goal is to make everyone
feel warm and comfortable. Here you can incorporate poufs, rugs, lounge tables in Rattan or Teak. Examples of this items include the Water Hyacinth Pouf, Tan and Black Woven Pouf, the Jasper Rattan Table or the Art Deco Rattan table among others.

e) Details on the flatware and cutlery: depending on the colors of the wedding you should not forget the details of the cutlery, for this we offer matte gold cutlery as well as matte gold combined with white/black.
We also have a variety of chargers in different styles and colors such as the Gold Leaf Charger, Gold Beaded Charger or the Mercury Glass Charger among others. If your wedding colors are more with black tones, we also have the option of Black Halo Charger.

f) Lighting: Remember to keep in mind that well-thought-out lighting will make the environment an ideal place. For this we offer different options such as Café Lights, Twinkle lights or LED with variety of colors, as
well as unique and beautiful lamps such as the Wicker Lampara, Wave Lampara or Rattan Dome Lampara or the option of black Rattan lamps to create accents.

g) Photographer selection: it is important that you choose well the person who will translate all these
memories into images and give you clear indications of all the details that are important to you.

h) Flowers: the selection of flowers is a very important point as they must combine and be incorporated into
the decoration. Such are bohemian weddings: wreaths, celebrations in nature,
Teepes and in general a unique hippy chic style.

6 Reasons to get married in the green season

What do you think of when you picture a destination wedding in Costa Rica? Is it a private ceremony surrounded by lush green coast lines with pristine white sand and hardly another soul in sight? Well the truth is that this is an accurate depiction of Costa Rica in the green season. Costa Rica has two distinct seasons, the dry season (December-April) and the green season (May-November). In our area of Guanacaste, their is a dramatic difference in the landscape between these two seasons. Dry season, while dependably sunny, is arid with fields drying out significantly. Below, you will hear our 6 reasons why the green season is the best season to get married in Costa Rica.

1. The Sunsets

The green season is the time when the sky comes alive at sunset. The addition of light fluffy clouds provides the perfect backdrop for wedding portraits that will last a lifetime. Ask any photographer and they will agree, green season sunsets are the best.

2. Flower Petals Love It

While the intense dry season sun is great, it happens to have a pretty negative impact on floral designs. This why we take special caution to prepare and install floral designs later in the day when the sun is lower on the horizon. The green season gives us a little break from the extreme temperatures and sun rays, which allows us to use blooms that would otherwise wilt in the green season. Not only will your bouquets look happier, they will stay that way for the entirety of the event. 

3.  More Privacy

One of the most amazing parts of Costa Rica is that the beaches are public land. This is the reason that it is so easy to host your beach wedding here. During the dry season, especially during international holidays, the beach can be a busy place. By hosting your event in the green season, there is less of a likelihood for wedding day beachgoers. Sounds pretty nice, right? 

4. Not All Months Are Created Equal

Although our green season typically starts in May and lasts until November, May, June, July and August and November offer a great mix of sun and passing shower. Although it does rain during these months, usually the rain comes all at once and typically clears pretty quickly. The month of July has a mini dry season that typically lasts two weeks. If you play your cards right, you can end up with a lush green wedding with no rain clouds in sight. Months to avoid are September and October as this is monsoon season for Western Costa Rica.

5. Go Vertical

We offer 3 different options of event coverage: clear top, white top and stretch tents. Each option provides solid rain coverage without sacrificing style. Our frame tents allow for the integration of vertical fixtures and designs to be hung above the receptions space as well as a uniform structure for installing lighting.

6. Have a Beautiful Wedding and Pay Less

Almost all hotels offer green season rates that are reduced from the normal high season. This means, that you and your guests can have the trip of your dreams and pay less. It's a win win.

Elopements are some of our favorite events to design. Since it is typically just the bride and groom, we are able to work with some amazingly unique locations that would be inaccessible for larger groups. Our designs are typically inspired by the new and unique landscapes and they help to re-fuel our creative tanks. 

Ashton and Adam wanted something simple and sweet, so we put most of the impact in Ashton's bridal bouquet. We also planned a small picnic with champagne, local snacks and a delicious cheesecake for them to enjoy at the foot of the water

{New Items} Premium Tent and Hardwood Dance Floor

New for 2016 and just in time for rainy season. Starting late May, Eventos Artesanos will be offering premium frame tents. Our new tents feature a high tension, sleek design and are rated for high winds. They are offered in two options, clear with white trim and ultra white. They come in 4 size options: 6m x 6m, 6m x 9m, 6m x 12m and 6m x 15m. 

Also, we now have a custom built dance floor. Our dance floor is currently available for installations in costal Guanacaste. It is available in 3 size options: 2.5m x 5m, 3.6m x 5m and 5m x 5m.

Soft + Eclectic Destination Wedding

Sharon and Ernest incorporated so many details into their event that we had to bring in extra tables just to accommodate them. Although there were lots of elements, our team of stylists were able to weave the design together seamlessly. {Featured} Wedding Sparrow | Las Catalinas Styled Shoot

We were recently contacted by Brandi Smyth, a talented film photographer based in Louisiana. Since we are always looking to for new outlets of creativity, we thought that working with her on this styled shoot would be challenging (in the best of ways) and inspiring. For floral designs, we went with a whimsical garden abundance theme, incorporating curly-que vines and textures into a monochromatic handheld design. The table was adorned with taper candles, slabs of wood, fine china and stemware. The cake was styled on stacked teak lounge tables with one of our dove grey runners.  This week, the shoot was featured on Wedding Sparrow, a hip UK wedding blog.

This event had all the details of a carefully curated Pinterest board. From the handpicked antique vases to the artfully decorated naked cake, everything came together better then we could have imagined. Congratulations to the happy couple!

An Earthy Geometric Inspired Tamarindo Wedding

Talia and Aaron fell in love with the idea of sharing their nuptials under the large Matapalo Tree. Being chic New Yorkers, the two of them were also very style consciece. We styled the event with floral and decor items with textures and shapes that reflected the modern geometric stationary and chalkboard.

Woodland Chic | Costa Rica Wedding

Jamie and Adam came to us with a vision of a festive party that incorporated the surroundings of Costa Rica, but did it in a non-flashy way. We recommended the woodland chic design aesthetic which is notable for the use of green foilage and wooden elements. Our lacey green floral designs were grounded with our teak wooden boxes and controted driftwood and softened with the use of nested succulants and airplants. The altar was framed with two our our handmade tinajas (large floral urns). For the reception, our vintage cafe bistro lights were suspended between two palapas and provided soft light for the seated dinner. Following dinner, the group danced the night away.

When Brittany and Bill decided to host their destination wedding in Playa Langosta (near Tamarindo), they new that they were looking for natural decor, beautiful cafe lighting, exotic lounge seating, fun games and a cute beach bar. {Featured} Bohemian Styled Shoot

Eventos Artesanos recently colaborated with Four Winds Weddings & Events and Costa Vida Photography on a styled shoot in Tamarindo, Costa Rica. This shoot was recently featured in Junebug Weddings, one of the top wedding blogs in North America. We had several items custom built for this shoot including our new Teepee and our Pura Birra Beach Bar. The shoot featured our teak tables set low with our bohemian table runners, wicker cushions and custom floral designs.

We have recently partnered with the best tent provider in Costa Rica to offer a complete yet custom wedding package that includes luxury wedding furniture, lighting, floral designs, decor and now stretch canopies. Canopies not only keep your guests dry, they also keep everyone shaded in the dry season. Your floral designs and photographer will thank you for it too. The beautiful difused light is perfect for table detail shots and the tent provides a perfect network of loops to hang perfect cafe or globe lantern string lights. We are so fortunate to work with amazing wedding vendors. It is through great teamwork that our events get accepted for publication in some of our favorite international wedding blogs. Junebug Weddings is one of our all time favorite blogs as they do a great job curating the images that you see in the feature. They also feature testimonial from the bride, which is always a great way to judge the overall experience of the wedding (not just the looks).
